Auditor Galloway announces audit of Perryville License Office

Citizen input requested for audit of contract license office in Perry County

06/01/2016

Missouri State Auditor Nicole Galloway has announced her office has started an audit of the Perryville Contract License Office in Perry County. It is the final of eight license offices that will undergo an audit this year.

"License offices provide direct services to Missourians around the state, and we want to ensure their procedures are efficient and effective," Auditor Galloway said. "My team will review office operations and share our findings and recommendations with the public."

The Missouri Department of Revenue is responsible for selecting agents to operate the 177 contract license offices in the state. These offices process transactions related to driver licenses, vehicle titles and license plates. In 2009 state law was amended to allow the Missouri State Auditor's Office to audit contract license offices, and this is the first audit for the Perryville License Office, located in eastern Missouri.

Audits of the Marshall, Warrensburg, Salem, De Soto, Twin City, Grandview and Savannah License Offices were announced earlier this spring and are currently underway. Auditor Galloway issued audit reports last year for five contract license offices located in the cities of Carthage, Kirksville, Monroe City, St. Charles and Warrenton.

Individuals who would like to provide information for consideration during the audit may contact the State Auditor's Office at moaudit@auditor.mo.gov or 800-347-8597.
