Auditor Galloway releases audit of Worth County government

Report receives overall rating of good; county to address errors resulting in some citizens being overcharged for brush control

09/19/2018

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (Sept. 19, 2018) Missouri State Auditor Nicole Galloway today released a regularly scheduled audit of Worth County, located in northwest Missouri. The overall report received a rating of "good."

"As a whole, Worth County is operating with transparency and accountability to best serve citizens," Auditor Galloway said. "I'm pleased to see that, for the few issues we did identify, county officials have outlined a plan to address the concerns and improve current practices."

The audit recommended improvements to the county's enforcement of brush control, which charges landowners for brush removal adjacent to county roads. The report found incorrect calculations caused some taxpayers to be overcharged for services. The County Commission indicated a commitment to better review calculations to ensure accuracy in the future.
