JEFFERSON CITY, Mo.-- Missouri State Auditor Nicole Galloway has announced her office has started work on an audit of the village of Centertown, located in western Cole County. The city has a population of less than 300, and the audit was requested by citizens through the petition process.
"When citizens are engaged, the process works to improve government operations," Auditor Galloway said. "I look forward to conducting this independent review, and I encourage those with information to contact my Whistleblower Hotline."
The Centertown audit was initiated through the petition process, which required 52 signatures. This is the first state audit for the village of Centertown.
