County earns "good" performance rating
Missouri State Auditor Nicole Galloway has released the audit of Howard County. The audit report includes information collected for the Dec. 31, 2014 audit period and lists the county's overall performance rating as "good." Prior to this report, Howard County's most recent audit was released in August 2011 with a performance rating of "poor."
"I'm pleased Howard County has made significant improvements in their operations and procedures since the prior audit and has received the second highest rating available," Galloway said. "I'm confident the county will continue to make progress as they work to incorporate current audit recommendations to better serve the citizens of the county."
Audit staff noted findings in four audit areas, including prosecuting attorney accounting controls and procedures, sheriff financial controls and procedures, public administrator disbursements and proper accounting of road and bridge sales tax.
