Missouri State Auditor Nicole Galloway has announced an audit of the Missouri Department of Revenue, Warrenton Contract License Office.
"The citizens of Warrenton expect public services to work efficiently," Galloway said. "This audit will help ensure transparency and accountability within the license office."
Audit staff will evaluate internal controls and procedures within the license office including accounting and reporting of financial transactions, inventory of materials and segregation of duties within the office.
The Department of Revenue is responsible for selecting agents to operate contract license offices throughout the state. These offices process transactions related to driver licenses, vehicle titles and license plates.
This is the first audit for the Warrenton Contract License Office. In 2009, state law was amended to allow the Missouri State Auditor's Office to audit contract license offices.
