Missouri State Auditor Nicole Galloway has announced her office has begun an audit of Stone County.
"Citizens across Missouri deserve an effective, efficient government that makes the best use of available resources," Galloway said. "My office has begun audit work in Stone County and will conduct a thorough review of county policies, procedures and adherence to state law."
The most recent audit of Stone County was completed in May 2012, and received a performance rating of "fair." The report included multiple findings in areas related to payroll, sales tax, property tax, and controls and procedures for the sheriff and prosecuting attorney's offices.
