"The residents of Douglas County deserve a government that works effectively," Galloway said. "My office will review past findings and move forward with a thorough audit to assist the county in identifying issues and improving operations to better serve the people of Douglas County."
The most recent audit of Douglas County was completed in August 2011, with a performance rating of "poor." The report included findings in multiples areas, including the county's financial condition; bidding and fuel use procedures; handling of emergency management receipts and disbursements; real estate purchasing; and controls and procedures in the offices of the Sheriff, Public Administrator, and Prosecuting Attorney.
