Auditor Galloway launches audit of Reynolds County government

State Auditor encourages citizens with information to contact Whistleblower Hotline

02/14/2018

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo.--Missouri State Auditor Nicole Galloway has announced her office has begun a regularly scheduled audit of the government of Reynolds County, located in southeast Missouri. The county's most recent audit was released in December 2014, and received an overall performance rating of fair.

"This independent review of operations and practices throughout Reynolds County government will ensure that county business is handled efficiently and transparently," Auditor Galloway said. "Residents should contact my Whistleblower Hotline if they have any information that would be helpful during this process."

Among the findings of the 2014 review were that county procedures related to bidding and written agreements needed improvement; that the county collector needed to improve accounting controls and procedures; and that improvement was needed in accounting by the Sheriff's Office.

Individuals who would like to provide information for consideration may contact the State Auditor's Whistleblower Hotline at moaudit@auditor.mo.gov or by calling 800-347-8597. Concerns may also be submitted anonymously online at auditor.mo.gov/hotline.
