State Auditor Nicole Galloway has begun a regularly scheduled audit of Monroe County, located in northeast Missouri. The most recent state audit of the county in September 2015 gave a rating of fair.
The previous audit noted findings in four areas, including prosecuting attorney's controls and procedures, sheriff's controls and procedures, county procedures, and the Senate Bill 40 Board.

The State Auditor's Office is aware of the difficulties facing governments across Missouri as they work to address concerns over the spread of COVID-19.
