Missouri State Auditor Nicole Galloway announced today that her office has begun an audit of the City of Northwoods in St. Louis County.
"Northwoods residents completed the petition process to request my office's review of the city's operations," Auditor Galloway said. "My team will identify areas of concern and deliver our findings and recommendations to the public. Individuals who have information to consider in the audit process are invited to contact my office."
City audits may be initiated through a petition process or by request of the governor. Northwoods residents submitted more than the required 359 signatures, which were verified by the St. Louis County Election Board. The number of signatures necessary to begin the audit was calculated based on the number of voters.
Auditors will also examine Northwoods municipal court operations in conjunction with the city audit. The reports will be released separately.
