Minimum Job Requirements: Bachelors of Science in Business Administration (with emphasis in Accounting), or Master of Accountancy with at least 1 year experience in governmental accounting
Duties: This is a mid-level staff audit position. Employees in this position are expected to complete work according to established policies and procedures and to exercise considerable discretion and independent judgment in interpreting such policies and procedures. Duties include reviewing and evaluating financial and budgetary systems, recording audit evidence in support of findings or recommendations according to generally accepted auditing standards; entering information and data to maintain or update records and spreadsheets; compiling and summarize information and data into reports format, charts, graphs, or report summaries; performing, as assigned, audit administrative duties including audit planning and supervision of subordinate staff; and perform limited assignments as the in-charge supervisor.
Person applying for this position should have a thorough knowledge of general auditing standards and practices; considerable knowledge of the principles and practices of public and business administration; considerable knowledge electronic data processing systems, including spreadsheets and works processing programs; considerable knowledge of governmental accounting and the organization of Missouri state and county governments; ability to develop a thorough understanding of complex legal issues and controversial issues and to deal with those issues in a professional manner; ability to accept expanding responsibilities and willingness to reach for additional responsibility when appropriate; and ability to prepare relevant special audit programs.
Work assignments will require approximately 75% overnight travel throughout the State of Missouri and the availability of a reliable vehicle.
